Substitutes for the scanty historical evidence by reconstructing the nature of Viking warfare using conceptual diagrams. The 'business management' approach may well be tongue in cheek! Griffith argues that Viking seafaring prowess has been overestimated and that despite raiding potential for 'popping up' unexpectedly and attacking soft targets, they were not so successful against organised opponents. Concludes with a valuable discussion of sources which would provide a good starting point for anyone who thinks they can do better!
