Forward into Battle : Fighting Tactics from Waterloo to the Near Future

Griffith

Amazon UK ref: 0907319017 | Amazon US ref: 0907319017

This was Griffith's first major book on battlefield tactics. First published in 1981, it consisted of four revisionist essays dealing with British Napoleonic infantry tactics in which he convincingly critiqued the work of Sir Charles Oman, showed that the empty battlefield was nothing new, argued for the importance of infantry as against the tank, and made some telling observations about the real nature of the war in Vietnam. The second edition (1990) added new sections to each chapter.
